CEO Message – March 2025

I thought spring was well and truly here, until today.  As I write this message I’m looking out at fresh snow!  Hoping this is just a blip!  Regardless of the weather this is the time that many of us start our annual spring clean! Our ReStores are the ideal place to donate your unwanted items to and not only your household items, but we also accept excess building material, making it a great place for shoppers doing home renovations.  I recently met a customer that has completely renovated her home with items from the ReStore, visit one today, they are packed with lots of goodies!

Volunteers spend an enormous amount of their personal time helping Habitat for Humanity in lots of ways and it was lovely to recognize two of them that go above and beyond.  Jett and Will recently received a King Charles 111 medal for their impact to our mission. We wish we had medals to recognize every single one of our volunteers.

We’ve now made it easier for you to get involved with our new fancy dandy events calendar.  Volunteers can view the calendar to see in advance the community engagement events we have scheduled and sign up for their preferred shifts.  We have lots happening again this year and this spring we will be heading further north than ever before, we’re going to Kamloops!

This month our supporter spotlight is shining bright on Traine Construction.  This community focused organization has been a HFHO supporter for many years and was instrumental in my journey to becoming the Habitat Okanagan CEO, which started by me being a volunteer on the Peachland build.  We are very grateful for their support which hits every touch point of Habitat.  Congratulations to Traine on their 25th anniversary of being in business.
