The Arrowleaf balsamroots are starting to make their appearance. Soon the valley will be covered in these bright yellow flowers, which is a sure sign that we are moving into warmer weather. I love these plants; they remind me of the fields of daffodils I miss seeing in the UK at this time of year.
As we head into a new season the office team have been busy springing around the valley, attending multiple home shows, including our first visit to Kamloops, where we received a very warm reception and strong support for our 50/50.
One of the highlights of last month was the amount of amazing donations we received for the chip sheet raffle that we did at the Kelowna home show, with this incredible support, we raised $4,500, thank you to our donors and everyone that bought tickets!
With all this activity our 50/50 is growing and we’re almost at $40,000, with many more ticket selling events yet to come, it is expected to be another giant jackpot! If you miss us at an event, you can also purchase them online HERE.
Talking about jackpots, the ReStore 50/50 was sold out again, a week before sales closed. The lucky winner took home $7,500. Tickets for this lottery are only available in our stores and at $3 each it’s a great return on investment. Sales for the next draw have already started.
Spring cleaning is in full force, the ReStores are getting lots of great donations, which means more low cost choices for shoppers. This includes kitchens! Our kitchen salvage program is very popular and getting very busy, if you want a tax receipt for your donated kitchen, please contact us at kitchens@hfhokanagan.ca.
You may have seen that during March we welcomed two more families to their Habitat homes. These families have been given the opportunity to own their own homes thanks to the collaboration of the Okanagan community. We can’t do it without you and are grateful for all the support we receive.
Have a great April!
